Constitution Day in Belarus
Constitution Day is a holiday in Belarus that’s observed annually on March 15th. It commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of this country on this day back in 1994. Belarus declared its independence from the Soviet Union and three years later, adopted the Belarus Constitution on March 15, 1994. Although this constitution was the fifth one to be created since the October Revolution of 1917, it’s the first constitution of an independent Belarus.

Under this constitution, citizens of Belarus are guaranteed the right to healthcare, the right to social welfare for the sick, disabled, and elderly, and the right to free general education. It also established Belarusian and Russian as the official languages, as well as a variety of other rights we haven’t mentioned.

Observing Constitution Day In Belarus
Although this day is a national holiday, it’s not celebrated with the same amount of fanfare as Constitution Days in other countries. On this day, there aren’t large parades, although there may be a few smaller local parades.
Mainly, people decorate their homes with the flag of Belarus, attend small events with friends and family members and watch special programming on their televisions.
