Flag Day in Romania
National Flag Day is an observation in Romania that’s observed on June 26th but it isn’t a public holiday. What we mean by that point is that government offices and businesses remain open on this day and the public doesn’t receive the day off. It’s a day on which the Romanian Flag is revered and it’s a holiday that’s been observed since 1998.

The History Of National Flag Day In Romania
The color combination of red, yellow and blue was first used in Romania on merchant and naval flags during the 1830s, but it wouldn’t become the national flag until 1859. The colors on this flag were arranged horizontally, however. The tricolor of the flag wouldn’t become like the modern Romanian flag until 1867.
From 1948 through 1989, this flag also had a coat of arms, but once that was eliminated the flag went back to its tricolor design. In 1991, the Romanian Constitution would state that the flag of Romania is tricolor with the colors being arranged vertically. The colors starting from the hoist should be blue, yellow, and then red. In 1998, June 26th was made National Flag Day by Romanian lawmakers.
Observing National Flag Day In Romania
This holiday is observed with special ceremonies, especially in the larger cities such as Bucharest. At these events, there are military parades, the raising of the Romanian flag, and other special ceremonies. There are also speeches given by military officials, politicians, and organizers of civic groups.
