Global Garbage Man Day

Global Garbage Man Day is a holiday observed on June 17th and celebrates the men and women all around the world who collect our garbage so we don’t have to deal with it. Garbage collectors serve an extremely important role in society and prevent us all from being buried by the sheer volume of our trash.

If garbage was allowed to build up, it would cause all sorts of health and environmental issues that none of us would want to have to deal with. So on this holiday, we encourage everyone to give thanks to their local garbage collector for the job they do on a daily basis.

The History Of Global Garbage Man Day

This holiday was first created in 2011 by John D. Arwood. It was created as a part of Waste & Recycling Workers Week and was intended as a holiday to give garbage collectors the praise they deserve. Even though garbage collectors do a vital job for our society, very few people think that much about them, so this holiday was created to give them the praise they so rightly deserve.
