Meat Week

Meat Week is a holiday that covers an eight-day period that begins on the last Sunday in January. As the name suggests, it’s a holiday that celebrates all things meat. It’s a time for people to enjoy briskets, steaks, ribs, and a variety of other high-end meats that are cooked in a variety of different ways, but with a particular focus on barbecuing them.

Although vegetarians and vegans aren’t going to appreciate this holiday week in any way, shape, or form, for many people, it’s a special time for them to enjoy some of the best BBQ restaurants in the city in which they live.

The History Of Meat Week

This holiday was first created in Tallahassee, Florida in 2005. It was created by Chris Cantey and Erni Walker to celebrate the different types of BBQ meats that they’ve encountered around the U.S. Although this holiday isn’t as popular as other food-centric holiday weeks, it is a holiday that’s beginning to gain in popularity.

Observing Meat Week

Obviously, one of the best ways to enjoy this holiday is to check out the local BBQ scene in your town or city. This shouldn’t be too difficult for most people, as BBQ restaurants tend to be everywhere, but if there’s not a BBQ joint in your town, then you may have to take a trip to a neighboring town or city.

In the rare event that there isn’t a BBQ restaurant anywhere near your home, then you may have to take things into your own hands. And by taking things into your own hands, we mean that you might have to make your own BBQ at home. There are a variety of different barbecue dishes that you can make and these include pork steaks, briskets, ribs, and even BBQ hamburgers or hot dogs. Just don’t forget to serve some great side dishes such as potato salad or coleslaw with your BBQ, and also don’t forget to use the hashtag #MeatWeek on social media.
