National LGBT Center Awareness Day is a day on which is observed on the 19th of October each year and honors the services that are proved by LGBT centers across the U.S. These community centers provided necessary services to everyone from young people to senior citizens.

Some of the services they provide include career counseling, wellness programs, support programs, advocacy, and empowerment programs. These organizations serve the LGBT community and help to connect people and to educate people within that community. Each of these centers advocates for the neighborhoods in which they reside, and the larger LGBT community as well.

The History Of National LGBT Center Awareness Day

This awareness holiday was first created in 1994 to bring attention to all of the good work that was being performed by LGBT community centers around the nation. It was created by CenterLink to highlight the ways that people can use their local community centers and the way that people can get involved with the community centers. Although we don’t know exactly when this awareness day was invented, we do know it’s been observed for the past few years.

Observing National LGBT Center Awareness Day

On this day, LGBT community centers across the country will hold special events on October 19th. These events may include open houses, clinics, art shows, or fundraisers. People can enjoy these events and/or donate their time and money to the community centers near them. People can also use the hashtag #LGBTCenterAwarenessDay to spread the word about this holiday on social media and to encourage everyone to get involved.
