National Webmistress Day

National WebMistress Day is a holiday that’s observed annually on the 26th of August and honors webmistresses-women who work in web development. This holiday has been observed since 2016 and continues to be observed until this day. It’s a day to promote or give a shout-out to the many thousands of women who work tirelessly in a field that was once considered to be a male-dominated industry.

These women develop, design, market, and maintain the websites of the world so that we can have a seamless experience whenever we’re online. This is a day to help a WebMistress get the publicity she deserved on social media.

The History Of National WebMistress Day

This holiday was founded in 2016 by Kat Valentine as a way to promote women in web design. Another reason she created this holiday was to add legitimacy to the term WebMistress—a term that she had been using since the mid-1990s.
