National Write Down Your Story Day

Every single person on the planet has a story about their life, but most people don’t think that their personal story would be interesting to anyone else but themselves. However, there is a holiday that encourages people to rethink that thought and actually spend some time putting down their story.

This holiday is known as National Write Your Story Day and it’s a holiday that’s observed every March 14th. The purpose of this holiday is to encourage everyone to put their life stories down—even if they’re doing it just for themselves. Every person has an interesting story to tell if they’ll just take the time to tell it.

The History Of National Write Your Story Day

This holiday was created in 2017 by Mitzy of the YouTube channel A Mother of Colour. She created this holiday to encourage people to get their work into the hands of the world. After all, a story that one tells to oneself is fine, but a story that’s released into the world can inspire, entertain, and provide hope to someone else.

Observing National Write Your Story Day

This holiday is either the easiest or the hardest holiday to celebrate—depending on how a person feels about writing their life story. Some people are going to be pumped about this holiday and other people are going to be intimidated about the prospect of writing their own life stories. For people who feel intimidated, it’s time to move past that feeling and just start writing about your life. If you can do that, then you’ll be surprised about how quickly the words come.

Anyone who wants to encourage other people to commit their life stories to the proverbial page can do so by using the hashtag #NationalWriteYourStoryDay on social media. People can also share bits of their writing with the world using this hashtag. Let’s all get our stories out into the world on this holiday for everyone to enjoy.
