Play God Day

Play God Day is a holiday that’s observed annually on the 9th of January. Although it sounds like a holiday during which a person acts like a megalomaniac, it’s actually a day for people to shower blessings on their fellow human beings.

This is a holiday for people to change other people’s lives for the better. This can be by doing something as simple as paying for the groceries of the person behind you in line at the grocery store, or something as big as donating your old car to a charity.

So you see, the point of this holiday isn’t to exert “power” over other people, but instead spread joy, love, and compassion.

The History Of Play God Day

It would appear that this holiday is indeed a mysterious one. We searched high and low for the origins of this holiday, but we simply couldn’t find out who invented it. We’re not even really sure of exactly when it first appeared.

We think that it’s an Internet Holiday, meaning that it was created on the Internet and continues to live there. As usual, we’ll continue to try to do additional research to find out the origins of this holiday, but right now, it doesn’t look like we’re going to find out anytime soon.

Facts About Charity

Despite its name, Play God Day isn’t a day dedicated to the observance of any one religion. It’s actually a day for people to do charitable acts for other people. That’s why we decided to put in a trivia section on this article that spoke about charity and not about religion. With that said, let’s take a look at some of the facts about charity and charitable acts that we learned on this holiday.

  • Worldwide, about 1 out of 3 donors donate financially to organizations outside of their country’s borders.
  • December is the most charitable month of the year. 18% of all donations happen during this month.
  • In the U.S, there are over 1.5 million nonprofit organizations.
  • Approximately 8 out of 10 donors will do research before they donate their money to a particular charity.

Observing Play God Day

Everyone is encouraged to go out into the world and spread love, joy, and happiness to everyone they can. That is the real meaning of Play God Day. It’s a day for placing the needs and happiness of other people above your own for just one day.

And maybe, just maybe, if you do that with your whole heart, you’ll also want to do it every day of the year. People can also encourage other people to spread love and joy by using the hashtag #PlayGodDay on social media. Let’s start a movement and help those who need our help.
