The History Of Toad Hollow Day Of Encouragement

Ralph C. Morrison was a teacher and a storyteller who had heard the name of Toad Hallow County School in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and thought that the sound of the name was great. That’s when he decided to incorporate the name of the school into his stories. These stories became known as Toad Hallow Stories and they would eventually become very popular.

Kalamazoo County heard about the Toad Hallow stories and offered Morrison a spot in a park that he could use to tell his stories. A non-profit then stepped in and built a 19th-century town and pioneer homestead in the park. As you could probably guess, the name of this fictional town would be called Toad Hallow.

Toad Hallow would become a spot that was used for not only storytelling, but also for historical reenactments, Renaissance fairs, and craft classes too. Eventually, Toad Hollow Day of Encouragement was created by the local community. It was a way for people to keep Toad Hollow in their hearts, and it’s now become a national holiday.
